Tim Cartmell

Tim Cartmell began his martial arts training with the Chinese styles in 1972. Tim trained to the level of eight-degree black belt in Kung Fu San Soo, and then moved to the Republic of China where he lived and studied martial arts full time for 11 years.

Tim is an Asian Full-Contact fighting champion, a Submission Grappling champion, a two time Pan American Brazilian Jiu Jitsu champion at the brown and black belt level and seven time winner of the Copa Pacifica de Jiu Jitsu. Cartmell received his black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in 2003.

All classes begin with warm up, conditioning and coordination exercises. The stand up portion of the class includes striking (combinations, pad work and sparring), wrestling and takedown training. The second half of each class is devoted to ground fighting, with Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in the gi and no-gi Submission Wrestling on alternate days. Training is conducted in a relaxed atmosphere that encourages correct training aimed at rapid improvement in a safe environment.

Students are encouraged (but not required) to compete in various combat sporting events, including Brazilian Jiu Jitsu tournaments, Submission Grappling tournaments, and various Mixed Martial Arts events, including Pankration tournaments.

Tim Cartmell received his black belt in 2003, and was the first student that Cleber promoted to such a prestigious rank.
