Cleber Jiu-Jitsu's main focus is Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Both gi and no gi styles are taught. Cleber himself also holds a black belt in Judo, and actively teaches his students throws and take downs from the standing position as well.

Royler Gracie, Cleber Luciano, Royce Gracie What seperates training at Cleber Jiu-Jitsu apart from other BJJ gyms is that Cleber personally teaches all the classes himself. This has become a rarity in the recent boom of BJJ schools in Southern California. Having the opportunity to train with a world-class BJJ artist is a privelage any enthusiast will enjoy. But to have this honor each and every time you train is almost unheard of.

Since opening his Huntington Beach school, Cleber has gained a reputation for being an energetic and enthusiastic teacher. Making each student feel involved and important, Cleber has mastered not only the fighting aspect of the art, but humility as well. This atmosphere has also created a sense of loyalty in his students and has rendered a large base of core students that assist and offer advice to newcomers.

In addition to quality instruction, an energetic and down-to-earth teacher, and loyal students, Cleber Jiu-Jitsu is also well known for it's family atmosphere. On almost any given day you can find a pack of children playing and enjoying themselves as their parents train. Cleber's own family is often present, solidifying this family-orientated martial arts school.

When you train at Cleber Jiu-Jitsu you are guaranteed personal involvement, quality instruction, and an atmosphere that promotes success and freindship. Each year, Cleber himself expresses his gratitude and repays his students by holding an annual beach party and an annual Christmas party.

Students at Cleber Jiu-Jitsu are also highly encouraged to participate in tournaments as well. Cleber sends his students to tournaments as he deems appropriate and also is the host of the annual "Copa De Pacifica". In April of 2008, the 11th annual Copa De Pacifica was held in Garden Grove California. And yes, you guessed it...Cleber was there cheering and coaching the entire time.

If you are considering more extreme competition, Cleber also facilitates a pankration competition team. In December of 2007, Team Cleber finished in 2nd place in Dual team championships. Team Cleber will also be competing in July, 2008 for another strong showing in the pankration dual team championships.

If you are looking for the total package,
Cleber Jiu-Jitsu is the place for you.

Cleber Luciano

Cleber Luciano Brazilian World Championships

Cleber is a world renowned instructor, a great coach, and an even better mentor.

Cleber received his black belt from Royler Gracie at the age of 19 and has been teaching Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for over 15 years. His dedication to the sport is unparalleled and finding a teacher that commits so much of his personal time to his student's success will be an insurmountable task in of itself.

This dedication, and love of the sport is Cleber's own secret to success. Having won numerous competitions and titles, building a successful Jiu-Jitsu school, and creating what is really a family environment focused on success is why Cleber was recently named the OTM 2007 instructor of the year.

Omar De Lucca

Omar De Lucca

Omar is a dedicated coach and instructor. Having studied BJJ for over 15 years, he is not only well versed in the brazilian jiu-jitsu art, he is also a well formed teacher.

Under the tutilage of Cleber Luciano, there is no doubting the legitimacy of his black belt rank. If you are looking for quality and personal instruction from a teacher who cares, De Lucca's Jiu-Jitsu is the right place for you.

What is BJJ?

The premise of BJJ is that most of the advantage of a larger, stronger .opponent comes from superior reach and more powerful strikes, both of which are somewhat negated when grappling on the ground. The BJJ style includes effective use of the guard position to defend oneself from the bottom position, and passing the guard to dominate from top position with side control, mount, and back mount positions. This system of maneuvering and manipulation can be likened to a form of chess when performed by two experienced practitioners. A submission hold would be the equivalent of checkmate.

BJJ permits all the techniques that judo allows to take the fight to the ground. Once on the ground the opponents can continue to fight, and winning is usually the result of one participant "tapping out". In sport competition, matches are timed and can also be won by outscoring your oppenent by gaining dominent positions, and completing certain manuevers.
