Adam Williss is a major figure in the California Wing Chun scene. He runs and operates his own school out of his San Clemente home providing group instruction and
private lessons for his students. Adam is the President of the California Wing Chun Association, President & Founder of Martial Artists Against Domestic Violence,
Approved for induction in the United States Martial Arts Hall of Fame, and also the creator of Wing Chun Magazine,
amongst many other accomplishments.
Adam has trained and studied in Shorinjiryu Kenkokan Karatedo, Krav Maga, Chen Style Tai Chi Chuan, Jeet Kune Do concepts, Modern Boxing, Classical Pugilism / Bare-Knuckle Boxing, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Mixed Martial Arts (MMA), Muay Thai, Silk-Reeling Qigong and Kickboxing.
Using speaking engagements, internet blogs, article publications, his website, expert advice at liveperson , group and private instruction, you could say that Adam has completely immersed himself in a world of teaching and spreading martial arts to enthusiast both local and abroad. Students taught by Adam include employees of large corporations, college students, corporate executives, and high profile VIP's. He maintains though, that his teachings are for everyone, young and old, from all walks of life. Moreover he also emphasizes that his goal of ensuring students are well trained, and prepared for real-life situations remains consistent.
Adam takes a conceptual approach to martial arts, more specifically, he teaches that "efficiency leads us to the quickest and most effective self-defense path." Adam's
approach to self defense does not require the student to be stonger and faster than the oppenent, but to be where they need to be at the right moment. Using laws of modern
physics in his teaching foundation, student's determine the best ways to move and defend themselves by gaining optimum positioning when fighting and ultimately
become the reason behind every strategy and technique.

AW: I have trained, studied and researched several martial arts including Wing Chun, Jeet Kune Do?s core concepts, Krav Maga, Chen Style Tai Chi Chuan, Modern Boxing, Classical Pugilism / Bare-Knuckle Boxing, Shaolin Kung Fu, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Mixed Martial Arts (MMA), Muay Thai, Shorinjiryu Kenkokan Karatedo, Silk-Reeling Qigong and Kickboxing.
Today, I base my teachings, combat system and philosophy on what I?ve come to refer to as Advanced Fighting Concepts - a process of simplifying your self-defense movements while adhering to the laws of physics. It emphasizes neutralizing a threat as quickly as possible within a ?real life? situation.

AW: I began studying seriously in 1995.
Socalmartialarts.com: What types of competitions have you participated in? What are your most notable accomplishments in martial arts?
AW: No, I don?t participate in competitions. I focus on training for real-life self-defense situations. Giving people get access to the same simple and effective self-defense concepts used by world-renowned experts is by far my biggest accomplishment. AW: I was born in Baltimore, MD. Lived and grew up for the most part in Jacksonville, FL. I moved to San Clemente, CA after college.

AW: First and foremost, my teaching style rests on the ability to demonstrate by example. By allowing my students to clearly see and feel my expertise, they then are able to allow themselves to empty their cups enough to truly learn. having the ability to clearly explain the reasons why.
Socalmartialarts.com: What are some of the benefits of Wing Chun? For adults and for children?
AW: I currently specialize in teaching teens and adults.
Socalmartialarts.com: If you had to name 3 things that are essential to becoming successful for Wing Chun, what would they be?
AW: Learning to operate in the present, allowing yourself to be honest with yourself and the ability to constantly take yourself out of your comfort zone.

AW: To make martial arts a life-long journey of continuous improvement; to seek out their own truth in martial arts and ultimately in life; to use the lessons that they learn in other parts of their life; to learn how to teach what they have learned; to open their own school one day; and to become more proficient in martial arts than myself.
